Onboarding is two steps: create an organization, then add a project. Surnex walks you through both immediately after your first sign-in, and the header on each screen shows where you are — Step 1 of 2 and Step 2 of 2.

Step 1 — Create your organization

Enter an Organization name (for example, Acme Corp) and click Continue. Three things happen when the organization is created:
  • Surnex generates a URL-safe slug from the name — Acme Corp becomes acme-corp. If that slug is already taken by another organization, a numeric suffix is added (acme-corp-1). The slug is generated once and shown read-only in Organization settings.
  • You are added as the owner. You can grant owner to someone else later; an organization must always keep at least one.
  • The organization starts on the free plan until a subscription is added.

Step 2 — Add your first project

The second screen is the same Create project form you’ll use later from the Projects page. You need a project name, a domain, and at least one keyword. You can click Skip for now to go straight to your empty Projects list and add a project later. Nothing is collected until a project exists, so skipping means an empty dashboard.
Skipping doesn’t lose your organization — it’s already created. You’ll land on Projects with an Add Project button.

After onboarding

Creating a project queues its first data collection run in the background — rankings, backlinks, a site audit, domain metrics, keyword research, web vitals, AI search, GEO, and local visibility all start at once. You’re redirected to the project dashboard immediately; you don’t wait for the jobs. The dashboard fills in as each job finishes. Keyword and ranking data usually lands first; a full site audit on a large site takes longest. See How data collection works for the schedule each feature follows afterwards.
