# Manage your subscription

> Upgrade, downgrade, or change your billing period.

**Settings → Billing** shows your **Current Plan**, your usage against its limits, and the plans you can move to.

## Changing plan

Toggle between **Monthly** and **Annual** to see both prices — annual is shown as its effective monthly cost, so the two are directly comparable. Annual saves roughly a third on Pro and Team.

Select a plan to start a checkout. You're redirected to the payment provider and returned to Surnex when it completes. Your current plan isn't offered as a choice.

**Enterprise** is custom-priced and isn't self-serve.

## Who can change it

Only the **owner** can start a checkout or open the billing portal.

Admins and members can see the current plan and usage — they need that to know whether they can run an audit — but can't change what you pay. The invite panel describes admins as having "full access including billing", which overstates it. See [Roles and permissions](/organizations/roles).

## Manage Billing

**Manage Billing** opens the payment provider's portal, where you can:

* Update the card on file
* Download [invoices](/billing/invoices)
* Change or cancel the subscription

This is also where cancellation happens — there's no cancel button inside Surnex.

## Upgrading

Takes effect immediately. New limits apply at once, so a blocked **Add Project** or **Add Keywords** button unblocks as soon as you're back.

## Downgrading

Check your current usage first. If you're above the lower plan's limits — more projects than it allows, more tracked keywords, more team members — you'll need to reduce before the smaller plan is workable.

<Warning>
  Reducing usage means deleting things, and deletions are permanent. Removing a project destroys its ranking and backlink history with no way to rebuild it. Export or [report](/reports/share) anything you need before downgrading.
</Warning>

The gentler order is: reduce [check frequency](/tracking/overview) first, pause keywords second, and only delete as a last step.

## No subscription means free

An organization without an active subscription runs on the **free** plan's limits. A subscription counts as active while its status is `active` or `trialing`.

## Per organization

Subscriptions belong to an organization. If you own two, you pay for two — and upgrading one changes nothing about the other. Switch organizations in the sidebar switcher before checking billing so you're looking at the right one.
